Voting our Values

What’s on the ballot in the November election?

How does a biblical worldview shape our understanding of the issues in our culture?

Join us October 22nd as we discuss these questions during the Sunday School hour (9:30 a.m.)

It is important for citizens to be aware of ballot issues before stepping into the polls in November. Read and understand the language of what is being proposed. To view a sample ballot, visit the Secretary of State website.  Two major decisions will be made in Ohio November 7th:

Issue 1: If passed, this would establish a state constitutional right to “make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions,” including decisions about abortion

• Concerns have been raised about the vagueness in the language of the measure: it would seem to eliminate any parental consent for minors, and would include anything labeled “reproductive decisions” including transgender surgeries

Issue 2: If passed, this would legalize marijuana in Ohio, allowing the sale and purchase of marijuana, which a new Division of Cannabis Control would regulate; allowing persons who are at least 21 years old to use and possess

• Concerns include the negative effect experienced in states that have legalized marijuana for recreational use, as well as the fears it would lead to increased use by underage children
