In the second part of chapter 2, the Apostle Paul begins to tackle some of the specific ideas taught by false teachers who were troubling the Colossians. These impostors proclaimed a religion of ritualism, harsh treatment of the body, and the worship of angels. The unsuspecting were led astray by their smooth words. Paul wanted followers of Christ to hold fast to the truth of the gospel and stand their ground. Point by point, he deals with each error and directs the focus of the believer back to Christ and the message of His grace.
