Journey through the Bible in 2019

New Testament Reading Plan

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17)

A sailboat left port, heading towards unfamiliar waters. The small crew gazed at the horizon, with endless oceans stretching as far as the eye could see.  They found themselves both exhilarated and intimidated pondering the journey that lie ahead.  None of the brave travelers could be certain where the path might lead them, but they were sure  the incredible discoveries would be well worth the effort.

As we kick off 2019, I am excited to embark on a journey through the Bible.  Over the past year, our congregation followed a reading plan through the Old Testament, and now we will continue on through the New Testament.  Each Sunday, the morning message will align with the verses we have read during the week, and in Sunday School we will have the opportunity to dig a little deeper into the background and theology of each book.  We will discover key themes of Scripture, learning how the pieces fit together to proclaim one unified story of redemption through Jesus Christ.  The Lord will certainly challenge us along the way, drawing us closer in our walk with Him.

Our plan is based on five days of reading each week.  You can use the other two days to catch up if you fall behind, or spend time in the Psalms.  The Gospel of John has been spread throughout the year, encouraging us to reflect on the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Reading through the Bible might seem like a tremendous challenge, but it will most certainly be worth the effort.  It is the kind of experience that can change a person’s life.

I invite you to take the journey with us.  Click on the link above to download the reading guide, or bookmark this page.  Set aside time each day to meet with the Lord, spending time in His Word.  It is always helpful having the encouragement of others along the way.  We can spur one another on, sharing insights, and asking questions.  Don’t be discouraged, if you fall behind.  Jump back in with today’s chapters.  Above all, pray that the Lord would speak to your heart and empower you to apply His Word to your life.
